Letter to Convenantors
April 04, 2020
May the abundant grace, love and peace of our Heavenly Father overwhelm you as you go forward in His strength.
As you are aware, we continue to face the challenge of this Coronavirus pandemic that has now risen to fifty-one positive cases here in Barbados. The government has now demanded a 24-hour lockdown, thus eliminating all public gatherings in an effort to minimize the contagious spread of this dangerous virus. In response to this request we will continue to livestream our services until the restrictions are lifted. The livestream can be viewed at the following times:
- Sunday Morning Service 8:00 a.m. – 10:00a.m.
- Monday Night Prayer Focus (via zoom) 7:30 p.m. – 8:45p.m.
- Wednesday Night Bible Study 7:30 p.m. – 8:30p.m.
- Friday Night Encounter 7:30 p.m. – 8:30p.m.
Meetings of committees and various ministries can continue via phone utilizing the zoom app, which can accommodate a considerable number of persons at the same time. I am aware that these changes, especially the temporary suspension of our fellowship and corporate gathering for worship, ministry, prayer and the teaching of the Word, will be very difficult for many of us, as it is for me. Unfortunately, we will be unable to enjoy the level of wonderful fellowship we are so accustomed to as a ministry, given the social distancing that must be observed during this period.
I encourage you to form prayer groups of three to four persons (Whatsapp allows that) as a means of prayerful support to each other during the time that our corporate gatherings are temporarily suspended. At this time of necessary adjustment, we must remain steadfast in the faith, and not give place to fear, panic and worry. Allow the perfect love of God which abides in you, to cast out all fear and fill that void with power, love and soundness of mind.
As Christians we need to do all within our power to stop this contagious spread of the Covid 19 virus. We therefore have to make changes that may be challenging but necessary for our livelihood, future fellowship and the advancement of the Kingdom of God in the nations. My admonition is for you to take advantage of this quarantine season to spend quality time consistently dwelling in the secret place of the Most High. Also pray for each other, for strength, faith and courage to endure this period of time.
Although we may be physically distant because of the national lockdown, coupled with the requirement for social distancing, let us through our love, care and compassion for each other, ensure that no member of RMI feels isolated, rejected, neglected or hungry. Give a brother or sister a call, send a Whatsapp or text note, record a voice message or send an email; check on them to make sure all is well. I also hope that we can all utilize the wide ranging social media platform to keep in touch with each other.
Please take good care of yourself and remain safe and kindly pray for me and Pastor Joy as we continue to uphold each of you in prayer. Feel free to call for prayer, advice or counsel during this season of national lockdown. No one knows how long this period will last but I know you will be in touch. I miss all of you. Bless you and love you dearly. Shalom!
